I started my day bright and early at 05:00 Central time. Much to my surprise I found I was an hour early for class. I utilized that time to take care of a few things I had planned on doing after class. I still managed to get to class(Intro2Programming) rather early, so I familiarized myself with certain aspects of the class. Rather interesting, however, is that I became the guinea pig of the class since I’ll be using a newer version of Java on a different OS, IDE, and word processor/spreadsheet app. Due to some problems, I2P let out early so I arrived to my second class(Composition 1) about 30 minutes early. My instructor was out of town, so someone was sent to give us our homework assignments, syllabus and take attendance. Due to the relatively small amount of tasks that needed to be performed we let out of that class about 30 minutes early. I went to the financial aid office to inquire on some lottery money, and now I am here posting for all who don’t care to see.
Some of you may remember me saying I didn’t want to learn Java some time ago. It’s true, I don’t. Unfortunately, due to the widespread popularity of the language, it is what our instructor chose. The upside to this is that I should be able to help the gcc-java, Aptana, and Eclipse projects.
Well, I’ve got a road to drive, and things to do.

You may have noticed a little more content on Kamisamanou.net lately. This is partly due to a new chapter beginning in my life, and also the fact that I have begun posting a little more about other aspects of my life. Therefore, I tell you that you will here more about my collegiate life and the things surrounding it.
First on that list is that I learned of a new coffee house named Perk’s which just happens to be en route to my campus. I’ll probably stop in their ever Monday & Wednesday on my way to classes.
The information provided in the previous paragraph just reminded me that I need to go to Wal-mart tonight and get some supplies. I’ll be doing that here shortly. I don’t have to be to bed until nine so I should have some time.
I’ll post more on Open Source, College Life, and other aspects my life later.

Well, while I was installing Fedora 7 I was bit worried about updates since they said I’d have to rebuild the drivers every time I updated the kernel. I did not know if that meant just (un)installing the drivers, or if it meant (un)installing ndiswrapper. Whether or not it was overkill, I uninstalled ndiswrapper. I then reinstalled ndiswrapper &the bcmwl5 driver. I did notice that the alternative driver for the card ended up changing from “mac_80211″ to “b43″, so I had to blacklist the b43. After all that, it worked like a charm. It really wasn’t much to do, matter of fact, it only took about 3 minutes. I should much like to polish and clean the directions I got, credit the original authors, and then add information for how to perform updates.

With classes starting Aug. 27th, my days as a night owl are numbered. I’ll have to get up @05:00 every Monday & Wednesday. I won’t be able to get up much later on any other weekday either. I’m taking the first two weeks of college off from work, however, it seems that the real test comes during the 3rd week. Therefore, I won’t know exactly how effective my break will be on my schooling. I have found out that I need to cut plenty of hours off of my work schedule if I want to do well in college. All this, as you can see will dramatically change my schedule.

I got this car from my brother a few months ago who had taken it to a quicky-lube to get the oil changed. I found they ripped him off, putting on the cheapest and smallest air filter they could on the car. After I fixed that I went to replace the spark plugs, but found that one of the holes was loaded with oil. A little searching on Google let me know that it was a broken valve cover gasket. It also let me know that when that part breaks, vehicles(like mine) with and single/double overhead cam, often collect a little in one or more plug holes.

Well, I’m running F7 again, and lovin’ it of course. I received my 4400mAh battery in the mail today. It will be very useful during my college years and I will definitely take better care of it now that I know how easy they are to ruin.
Here’s a todo list for myself:
- Relaunch the “Docs” page as with links to documentation that has worked for me personally and stuff I wrote as well.
- Build Songbird. (It’s a personal thing, but if I meet with succes, I’ll be sure to share.)
- Get my computer at 100% again.

You know, I can’t remember Windows being such a pain in the butt. That is why I wanted to use it, because it was supposed to just work. Unfortunately I’m still messing around with it. So, to all the Linux usrs out there, I want you to know I will be continuing my Linux life here shortly. I can’t tell you how much easier Linux is than Windows once you get the basics down.
Oh, and the weird freezing issue was due to a ruined battery.

After running into a huge amount of trouble with my laptop, I re-installed Fedora 7. However, shortly thereafter I decided I don’t have the time to dedicate to perfecting my Fedora installation. With much regret, I went back to my recovery disc and got my system in factory condition. I’m loading my XP Pro installation with loads of Open Source apps as I type. I will still continue the usrbars, sometime in the future will switch back to Fedora. I know that most of the demographic for kamisamanou.net is Linux users, and I hope to one day be able run linux again and provide content that will be helpful to linux users. In the meantime, I will do my best as an Open Source Advocate in Windows.
