My Cellphone, and a little heads up

I’ve got two things to talk type about today, and I’m going to start with the interesting one.

I know what mobile communications device I’m getting! I had originally planned to pick up the Samsung SCH-u740, but decided I didn’t need it since I wasn’t going to get text messaging. I had decided to get the LG VX8600(Chocolate’s flipphone cousin) and nearly signed up. Unfortunately, due to a lack of credit, I couldn’t get a phone without a $400 deposit and with auto insurance just around the corner, I had to back out. This at first seemed bad, until about an hour ago when I decided that I needed something that would replace my Zire 21 as well. That left me looking for a smartphone, and the OpenMoko came to mind. The device(hereon referring to the OpenMoko) is slated to release this March September and will be the first open source cellular phone on the market.

With such a distant relesed date you may wonder why it’s worth the wait. The OpenMoko runs linux and I am an avid linux fan. I’ve also run Fedora Core 6 on my laptop since Dec. ‘06/Jan. ‘07 and would like a fully integrated experience. This previous statement is shown in the iPod+iTunes relationship, which is so fluid that it can’t fail. My Zire 21 often has trouble syncing….but OpenMoko should….Just Workâ„¢. Next, I’m just tired of this whole mess. I’d be in better financial shape, and have a higher need for a phone, in the latter months of this year. Plus, the phone is also going to support bluetooth and a few other features for the wait.

That heads up I promised you? Here it is. I’ll be heading to bed @11pm effective 02-28-2007. I have the ACT coming up and I need the extra sleep. Next, no more dates. I’ve set dates for so many things(Rockbox Userbar) and have failed to meet them. I think it would be best for me to just suprise people than give them due dates and miss them. Also, I’ll be taking a break from Userbar creation to work on sites for my clients so that I actually have something to put in the Portfolio page that doesn’t exist yet.

Unable to generate title.

Well, unfortunately I was not able to get around to doing anything on the net this week. I also have bad news about The Synergy Show. It’s gone, I don’t have that kind of time. I have to deal with school, work, ACT Prep., church, and several websites(My own, and then some). Also, I’ll shoot for getting the BBcode up by next Saturday…it’s on my todo list…so is fixing the blog. Gotta go!

Coming Up This Week

Just a quick list:

  • BBcode for the /usr/bars.
  • The Synergy Show Episode 01
  • Try to figure out why the markup for the posts is so screwed up.(See http://validator.w3.org)

That’s it so far. I may add more to the list as I become aware of it.

Google wants to replace your word processor,…& you.

When Sergey Brin and Larry Page designed the Google search engine on the Stanford servers, they didn’t quite know what powers they would one day posses. Now, after replacing your word processing, search, blogging, digital media, e-mail, and just about anything else you get on the internet for. However, it seems that’s not all they want to replace.

While browsing digg.com I noticed an article titled “Google developing Artificial Intelligence” sitting right there with 328 diggs. I immediately associated this with Pigeon Rankâ„¢ and just as quickly realized April was still more than a month away. Therefore, I slid my finger across the touchpad and clicked the headline.

I was promptly directed to 901am.com where they claimed that Larry Page said:
“We have some people at Google [who] are really trying to build artificial intelligence (AI) and to do it on a large scale…It’s not as far off as people think.”

This led them to say that Google might accidentaly create AI with poor reasoning. I however don’t believe that. Considering Google has access to a googol or more of information, it would seem they could create a well balanced AI. The only real danger would be if the AI were to decide we were inferior at which point we might get replaced. I know Google has a “commit no evil” policy, but that would be hard to force down the circuits of a machine that has the ability to think for itself. It makes you wonder if Google may soon hit it’s peak in power and then get taken over by it’s own machines.

The Rockbox Userbar!

It’s finally here. Go check it out on the userbars page. In my unbiased opinion, it is absolutely gorgeous. Also, the images all have the new urls (http://www.usrbars.com/****user.png) so you can sqeeze even more into that 250 character limited signature of yours. Before I put any more up, I’ll be adding BBCode underneath them so you don’t have to figure it out yourself.

Tadaa

Well, here it is! The Weblog of Kamisamanou Burgess in full force as the homepage of Kamisamanou.net! The website is still in beta, but the bugs are slowly going to be hammered out. Meanwhile, I still plan on pushing the Rockbox Userbar onto the site tonight.

Saturday

Ok, so here’s the deal. I’ve been straight swamped lately. I will however have time to get to work on the site and the Rockbox Userbar this Saturday, February 17, 2007. Due to the nature of things, I’ll probably get the weblog moved first.

Rockbox Userbar delayed

Unfortunately, I was held up at church due to computer trouble and just got home. I’m also extremely tired. This userbar will take lots of high detail work to make it look good, and that’s time consuming. I’ll try to get it out by tommorrow.

Userbars!

Well, the Rockbox Userbar should be finished in the next 24 hours. It has, however, proved to be the most difficult design I’ve done so far. I’ve also decided that the list of userbars coming up next are(first to last):

  1. The Swiftfox userbar.
  2. The VLC userbar.
  3. The Songbird userbar rev. 2(either an edit of the original, or something that fits the design of the rest of my userbars)
  4. OpenOffice.org userbar

Also, the blog is slowly getting ready for it’s big move. There are still a few bugs and words in foreign languages that need to be fixed.I also recently picked up the domain “usrbars.com”. If you have to ask about the spelling, your probably not Linux savvy. This name will reference not only the userbars, but who they are built for as well. The domain will mirror the OSS Userbars page. However, it is not ready yet.

Well, as the Great Italian Plumber once said, I’m-a-tired!

Kamisamanou
