Ski Trip Twenty-oh-six Recap

Well, as I have previously metioned, I went skiing on Wed. and have been out of town until about 3pm today. I had tons of fun going down the hill weaving side to side and glance back at or in some cases forward to my partner(s) in crime as we threw snow everywhere. I, in an effort to prevent hurting myself, managed to pull off an amazing stunt that got me a cheering crowd of 10 or more.

I also met my “twin”. That was kinda creepy and cool at the same time. She’s introverted, wears black, and has the same family situation(except her father is loaded, and mine isn’t). She’s original, and cares what no one else thinks, as am I. She hides her troubles as best as she can like I would. She’s 14 and acts just as I did at her age. We played pit, and both she and I went for the same cards throughout the game. We used the same skis, she’s about 2″ shorter than me. She wears her hair exacly I would if it was that long. On the trip back from skiing, we we’re both staring out the window of the bus that we were beside. She was playing music on her iPod™, as I would have been had my iPod™ with Rockbox not had a dead battery(I left it on, in my pocket, with the hold off). When we stopped at the mall on the way home, the first place she went was also the place that I wanted to go to. Obviously, there were some diffences between us. When we were at the mall, she ate Chik-Fil-A™ and I ate japanese food. Unfortunately, she’s been put into counseling by her parents, and for those that don’t know, that often causes some people to feel bad about themselves. She really needs prayer, that she can get through her teenage years and come out feeling confident and being more taken by God. Oh crap, time for bed!

Arafax has a new song out.

How new it is, I’m not actually sure. But he recently released “Won’t Find Me” to the soundclick listening audience. Check the guy out, he’s awesome!

Welll.

Ok, so as you may well know, I have not mirrored the Rockbox firmware. The biggest reason is because I find it very necessary for someone to read over the vast amount of documentation on the Rockbox website. the iPod 5g’s Rockbox manual is some one-hundred and something pages, so I recommend you download the pdf for your manual to lighten the load on there servers. I’ve been visiting the website quite frequently today, so I would say you shouldn’t have any trouble.

If you need any help installing Rockbox under linux drop me a line at kamisamanou-at-kamisamanou-dot-net

Rockbox devs getting a hosting bill for CHRISTmas?

It turns out, that the Rockbox.org website is very heavily laden. Apparently many tech-savvy geeks, like myself, will be getting an iPod for CHRISTmas, but won’t be using the rediculously restrictive iPod firmware. I can see this may be a problem and the moment I get the files from rockbox.org, I’ll mirror them at http://opensource.kamisamanou.net.

Site Updated - New Fedora Core Userbar!

Here’s the changelog:

  • Home page:
Site of the Month updated to wiihaveaproblem.com.
Announcement for the Fedora Core Userbar.
  • OSS Userbars page:
Added Fedora Core userbar and html snippet.

Now, I just wanted to give some detail on the Fedora Core Userbar. The color scheme is the official colors of the Fedora Core logo. Some may notice a little dot to the bottom-right of the Fedora Core logo. This is actually the ™ character. I would have removed it, but I prefer not to get into any legal trouble with Red Hat Inc. The longest, most difficult process on this, and all userbars, had to be the “glare”. It is so hard to get the right transparency since different color schemes show up different. That however, is true for all of my userbars. Here it is:

Fedora Userbar

Click on it to go to the OSS Userbars page and get the code!

Web Based Log Entry #164

Today, I got up, did some school work. I showed my brother the TSAH and TSAH2 movies at newgrounds.com. We had a CHRISTmas party going down at the church at 1800 hours, so I boiled some sweet potatoes and got ready for the party. Unlike most guys, and like many girls, it took one hour for me to shower, do my hair, and get dressed. After leaving the house, I ran a couple of unnotable errands before arriving at the church. We had excellent food, which, I only mention ’cause I’m super Baptist(Baptist=God+Food). We had a wierd gift exchange afterwards. Someone, who obviously forgot this was a church function, brought a very bad gift, which was promptly removed from the building by the Youth pastor’s wife. Other than that, I came home, messed around a little, and now I’m here. It’s been a very good day.

Aaron Shust is feeling pretty giving this month. He layed down a smashing version of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and then released a 128 of it for free at his site.

Many of you may be wondering how things are doing with the website and my other projects. Google Bookmarkit is still not finished, and may not be any time here soon.
My version of Download Manager Tweak that was supposed to come out for 2.0, is not. Those directing the Fedora Project don’t have any packages for Ff2.0 and it’s extremely difficult to get going. Normally that wouldn’t stop me, but combining that with the fact that I didn’t know exactly what I was doing, and it’s just not happening. Hopefully I’ll be better at coding come May of ‘07 and will be able to write for 3.0.
I still can’t get Aptana to function properly, but am working hard with the developers to figure out what’s going down. Thursday, I’ll update the site if I have ftp the files off the server, gedit them, and ftp ‘em back up. I realize that alot of the stuff required of me isn’t that hard, but I’m still settling in to Fedora Core 6.
Last but not least, the Fedora Core userbar is actually going to be for all versions. I loved the art for Zod, but I am not well versed enough in the GIMP to do the neccessary work to pull the bar of the way I want to. I’ll have it up by the time I update the site tommorrow.

For those who missed it earlier, I’ll be out of town Friday, Saturday, and part of Sunday. I doubt I’ll be connected, so don’t start searching for my name in the obituaries this weekend.

Merry CHRISTmas!
