//* I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. *//
Remember all that talk of Creative beating Apple to the punch with patenting various elements of the iPod’s UI? Today these talks came to an end, with Apple whipping out the checkbook, and Creative (I’m assuming) throwing a party. That’s right: Apple has shelled out USD $100 million to Creative for a paid-up license.

I was looking at my desktop and noticed that I had twelve little open source apps I absolutely enjoy using. I post them hear for all to see in no particular order.
- Mozilla Firefox - The Web browser in which I am posting now. Handles valid W3C websites better than any other.
- Mozilla Thunderbird - A good e-mail client for a casual e-mailer such as myself.
- Songbird - Currently in alpha stage. This is one seriously awesome media player.
- VLC - This is considered the best media player by many and features the support of many codecs.
- Democracy - A media player very heavily integrated with internet video. Supports virtually every codec.
- Notepad++ - A solid an well designed text editor.
- Aptana - Currently in beta stage. Despite being unfinished, this IDE is an excellent choice to help you develop the web.
- GIMP - Despite it’s steep learning curve, this graphics editor is easily better than photoshop.
- GAIM - Use several different IM protocols including MSN, Google Talk, AIM, and more with this swiss army client.
- Filezilla - Easily the best FTP client available for Windows.
- Audacity - A pretty good audio editor.
- Azureus - The bittorrent client. The’re is no superior bittorrent client.

For some reason or another customers of Frontier Communications in Tennessee lost their high speed internet access. Unfortunately, I was one of those people. Oh well, we’re back online now.

Imagine, your looking for the right place to eat when you get to Austin, TX. You go to the DinerWiki, search Austin, TX, and get a list of all of the best places to eat submitted by people who live there. You get health scores, best meal, and who knows what else. That is what DinerWiki is all about. Coming late 2006/early 2007.

It’s true. If you type “kamisamanou” without quotes you will attain 788 results. I think that’s kinda cool.

Today was just a good day. Good church services, good lunch, good whatever else I did. Unfortunately today was Mrs. Susan’s last day playing piano for our church, but she went out with a bang.
I’m currently in the process of moving all of my Dreamweaver files into Aptana. Once I get that done I’ll be able to take on linux again. I’ll use openSUSE 10.2 with hopes that it will work with my laptop better. It should release this October/November. I must be crazy for waiting that long….or I’ll just get 10.1 and upgrade because at second look, the earliest it could be out is late December.

This is a time full of new. First, I just wrote a new poem called “One drop…” which in the last hour has become the most favourited of all my poetry. Then, sometime ago, my buddy Lukus [Arafax] released a new song called “All In Your Head” and is the most original of any of his works. Also, from now on. Every Friday at ~11:45pm I will post a weekly Open Source update of the most interesting[in my opinion] things that happened that week in the open source community.
Check out my new poem:
