Fedora 11 Delayed

Unfortunately, after the filing of many critical bugs, the Fedora Project was forced to delay the release of Fedora 11. This now means that the new version will come out on the second of June and that my computer probably won’t see it until the sixth of June.

Miscellaneous

I just drained, flushed, and refilled the coolant in my car, changed the oil, and wired up two new speakers, all of which are task I’ve been neglecting lately. I hope to do a little bit more songbird work, bike riding/commuting, and piano practice from this point on.

I have another tip for the collegiate crowd, but I’ll deliver that in another post.

About Me

I do not have a formal about me page, but I don’t plan on making one. I do, at some point, plan to put a link up in the navigation bar on Kamisamanou.net. My about me will point to my Google Profile at http://www.google.com/profiles/kamisamanou

Tips from a Scholar #1

Part of being in college, especially at the dorm, means flying it solo when cooking. Another restriction in college, time, makes cooking less feasible and this is sometimes because of cleanup. The problem of finding a way to serve oneself with the least amount of work could be solved by microwaves, fast food, or college eateries, or Corelle™ dinnerware made with Vitrelle™.  Yes, that is right, a quick search on Google revealed and a visit to the Corelle website confirmed that Corelle dinnerware is able to be used in a conventional oven.

By the way, this is not the series I have promised for so long, this just came out of necessity and I hope to provide info to current and future college students.

A Tornado Moves in Next Door

I am at church writing this, since my house had a brush with death. I was just at a mile away when a tornado ripped through my neighborhood knocking down trees and removing the roof and windows of my neighbor’s house. God has blessed us though, sparing everyone that I know and  many others.

Where I’m at & What I’ll do

This semester is almost over which means no college for “Scholar” for about a month. With the foregoing sitting between your ears I have decided to tell you what is going on with Kamisamanou.net. First, the frontpage is going to be something of a social playground so everyone can see what pools I’m dipping my toes into. Of course, a frontpage with that information is going to be filled with flash and Javascript, ironic since the rest of the website still loads quickly on 56k(1.67% of my visitors). Ifeel fine about making this move since Google Analytics points out that all of my visitors have flash installed and are at least at version 8. There is not any reason to worry though, I am not about to revamp the whole website in flash. Next up, I’m looking into giving Kamisamanou.net a paint job inspired by the Fedora Project colors, and those from G-mail. Speeking of colors, I don’t see my self indulging in any more usrbars. The ones that are available suit most of my needs and truthfully, I think it is a dead fad. Also, the heavily illuded to series of post I had will probably turn into and eBook instead. I’ll write the book in Google Docs, publishing it every time I add a new section or chapter. Once the book is finished, it will be a free, Creative Commons licensed work that I will offer right here on Kamisamanou.net. Speaking of such, The U.S. History page will remain up, though no new content will be added. Those of you who would like to learn about the United States from shortly after its discovery to the Reconstruction just after the Civil War feel free listen to the lectures on that page from the top to the bottom. Oh well, I can say more, but I think I will save it for another post.

Two Reason’s Why I Might Be Cooler than You

  1. Google Notebook - I have it, and I just used the web clipper extension for Firefox to create a list of references for a History Project.
  2. See #1

Cool Quote #10

I think this is more true than many think:

“Honestly, the MPAA seems less offended by sexuality and language than in depictions of spiritual darkness” - Ted Dekker

Credit Cards are Evil

As a kid I swore I would never get a Credit Card, or at least keep it paid off. Unfortunately, I forgot about some purchases I made in the past and I now owe money I don’t have(If I had known, I would have spent $200 on the car with my Debit Card). Since I’m just a college student living with my parents, I could ask them for an interest free loan to finish it off, but I think I’ll accept the responsibility and take the consequences of my actions.
